They’re mostly BLACK sex workers. Don’t forget that part. And I’m sure a good number of them are trans Black women although the article didn’t state that.
It’s frustrating because I watch a lot of crime TV and a running trend is that a serial killer can easily get away with murdering sex workers (especially when they are women of color) because police literally don’t investigate. In some cases, they make no effort to even I.D. the victim.
Many of the serial killers that have been caught stopped solely targeting sex workers and went on to other (usually white) middle class women. *Then* the murders started being taken seriously by law enforcement, money was thrown into finding them, and they were eventually caught.
